Indore and Surat Cleanest City of India: Swachh Survekshan Awards 2023
This year, Swachh Survekshan Awards 2023 showcased joint winners.Indore and Surat have secured the top positions as the ‘cleanest cities’ in India, with Navi Mumbai maintaining its third position.
In the category of ‘best performing states,’ Maharashtra claimed the first spot, followed by Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
Indore, achieving this distinction for the seventh consecutive time, was awarded the title of the cleanest city.
President Droupadi Murmu presented the awards to the winners during an event in the presence of Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and other dignitaries.

1. Population under 1 lakh: In the category of cities with a population under 1 lakh, Sasvad, Patan, and Lonavala secured the top three positions.
2. Cleanest Cantonment Board: Mhow Cantonment Board in Madhya Pradesh was recognized as the cleanest Cantonment Board.
3. Cleanest Ganga towns: Varanasi and Prayagraj were acknowledged as the cleanest Ganga towns.
4. The best performing states were Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh.
5. Best Safaimitra Surakshit Sheher: Chandigarh received the Safaimitra Surakshit Sheher award for the Best Safaimitra Surakshit Sheher.
