Nitish Kumar take oath as Bihar CM for record 9th time

The political landscape in Bihar has once again undergone a change. Janta Dal-United (JD(U)) chief Nitish Kumar has taken the oath of Chief Minister for the record 9th time at the Raj Bhavan in Patna today i.e. on January 28. He has formed a new government with the support of the BJP-led NDA alliance.

Among the ministers BJP leaders Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha also took the oath as Deputy Chief Ministers.

On the same day, Nitish Kumar submitted his resignation to Governor Rajendra Arlekar, along with letters of support from BJP MLAs and end his ties with the Mahagathbandhan in Bihar.

Nitish Kumar became the CM for the first time in 2000.

  • Between 2000 and 2022, Nitish Kumar served as the Chief Minister of Bihar on eight different occasions.

Note:

  • The last time Nitish Kumar took the oath as the Chief Minister was in 2022 when he severed ties with the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) and joined the RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal), Congress, and the Left alliance. He became the Chief Minister of the Mahagathbandhan in Bihar.
