RCB Won WPL 2024, Defeated Delhi Capitals in the Final
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 title after defeating the Delhi Capitals (DC) by eight wickets. The final took place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on March 17.
Royal Challengers Bangalore ended their longstanding drought by clinching their inaugural title across franchise leagues.
Chasing a target of 114, Smriti Mandhana led the Royal Challengers to victory with crucial contributions from Sophie Devine and Ellyse Perry, securing the win in the final over.
Earlier in the match, Shreyanka Patil played a pivotal role for RCB, taking four wickets and helping to restrict DC to just 113 runs in 18.3 overs.
Sophie Molineux’s crucial over turned the game in favor of the Royal Challengers, dismissing Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Alice Capsey. RCB’s spinner accounted for nine wickets in total, the highest by any team in WPL history.
The Bengaluru-based franchise has yet to clinch a title in the Indian Premier League.

For her exceptional bowling performance, Molineux was named the ‘Player of the Match’.
Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award:
- Deepti Sharma was honored with the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for her outstanding performance in WPL 2024.
Despite her team’s failure to reach the playoffs, Deepti scored 295 runs and took 10 wickets during the season.
Orange Cap Winner:
Ellyse Perry claimed the Orange Cap title by scoring 347 runs throughout the tournament.
‘Emerging Player of the Season & Purple Cap Winner:
Shreyanka Patil received the ‘Emerging Player of the Season’ award as well as the Purple Cap. Notably, the young Indian off-spinner claimed the highest number of wickets (13) this season, with her best figures being 4/12.
