PM Modi conferred with Russia’s highest civilian honour ‘Order of St Andrew the Apostle’

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was graciously awarded the Order of St Andrew the Apostle the First-Called, which is Russia’s most prestigious civilian honor, on July 9th. This honor was given to him in appreciation his remarkable efforts in enhancing the special strategic partnership between Russia and India, as well as in strengthening friendly relations between the two countries.

 

A special ceremony held at St. Andrew Hall in the Kremlin, President Putin personally bestowed the Order of St Andrew the Apostle the First-Called upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This award, which announced back in 2019, was finally presented to him during this significant event.

Prime Minister Modi holds the distinction of being the first Indian leader to be conferred with this esteemed award, which was originally established in 1698 by Tsar Peter the Great in tribute to Saint Andrew, the foremost apostle of Jesus and the patron saint of Russia.

The Order of St Andrew the Apostle stands as the most esteemed state decoration in Russia, initially instituted by Peter the Great, the pioneering Emperor of Russia, circa 1699.
