Mohan Yadav is the new Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh
Mohan Yadav has ben appointed as the new Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh during a BJP meeting in Bhopal on Monday. He is poised to become the 19th Chief Minister of the state.
He serves as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) representing Ujjain South and has held the position of Higher Education Minister in the Shivraj Singh government.
In the 2023 Madhya Pradesh Assembly election, Mohan Yadav secured his position in the Ujjain South constituency by winning with a margin of 12,941 votes against Congress candidate Chetan Premnarayan Yadav. This triumph signifies his third consecutive term as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), garnering a total of 95,699 votes.
Two Deputy CM’s will be appointed in MP
According to sources, Madhya Pradesh is expected to have two Deputy Chief Ministers.
- It is reported that Jagbir Deora and Rajendra Shukla are likely candidates for the Deputy Chief Minister positions. Additionally, Narendra Singh Tomar is anticipated to assume the role of Speaker.
About Mohan Yadav
1. Born on March 25, 1965, in Ujjain, Mohan Yadav holds degrees in B.Sc., LLB, MA in Political Science, MBA, and a PhD.
2. He is married to Seema Yadav, the couple has two sons and a daughter.
3. In 2013, Mohan Yadav was elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the first time from the Ujjain South constituency.
4. The public reaffirmed their support for him in the 2018 Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections, once again choosing him as the MLA from Ujjain South.
5. On July 2, 2020, he assumed the role of a cabinet minister in the Shivraj Singh Chauhan government, taking on the responsibilities of the Higher Education Minister.
6. Aside from his political career, Yadav is a former amateur wrestler.
BJP holds strong grip in Ujjain
The BJP has maintained a strong grip on the Ujjain South constituency since 2003. Mohan Yadav, belonging to the Other Backward Class (OBC), has been appointed with the expectation that the BJP can garner support from the OBC community, constituting more than half of the state’s electorate.
MP Assembly Election 2023
Following the polls on November 17, the BJP successfully retained power in Madhya Pradesh, securing 163 seats out of the 230-member assembly.
- The Congress trailed behind significantly, securing 66 seats.
