IPL 2025 Postponed For a Week
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to postpone the IPL 2025 season for one week. This decision comes as tension rises between India and Pakistan.
Official Statement from BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla,
“In view of the current situation, IPL 2025 has been suspended for a week. A new schedule will be announced after discussion with all stakeholders. We stand with our armed forces and the government. We are proud of the Indian Army.”
Security First:
An official from BCCI told news agency PTI,
“It doesn’t feel right to play cricket when the country is facing such serious situations.”
IPL 2025: 16 matches were remaining
-
A total of 16 matches, including the final, were remaining in the tournament.
-
The final was earlier scheduled to be held in Kolkata on May 25.
-
A recent match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings in Dharamsala was cancelled due to a technical issue with floodlights.
-
There was already doubt about the continuation of the league after that incident.
What About Foreign Players?
Rajeev Shukla also mentioned that foreign players will decide on their own whether to stay or leave, as it will be their personal decision.
