The match went into extra time, where Ollie Watkins scored a brilliant goal to secure a 2-1 victory for England.

England has secured a place in the Euro Cup 2024 final by defeating the Netherlands 2-1 in a thrilling semi-final at Dortmund, Germany on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.

 

England didn’t start the match with much confidence, as the Netherlands took an early lead with a goal from Xavi Simons, putting England under pressure. However, as the match progressed, England’s grip on the game strengthened.

After falling behind in the early minutes, England made a strong comeback. England’s captain, Harry Kane, converted a penalty to level the score at 1-1.

During the regular time, both teams fought hard but neither could score a second goal. The match then went into extra time, where Ollie Watkins scored a brilliant goal to secure a 2-1 victory for England.

 

England Reaches Final for the Second Consecutive Time

 

England will face Spain in the final. Spain secured their place in the final by defeating France. Spain has made history by becoming the first team to reach the final after winning six consecutive matches in the Euro Cup.

The final will take place in Berlin at a stadium with a capacity of 74,000 on July 14 at 9 PM local time. In India, it will be broadcast on July 15 at 12:30 AM.

This is the second consecutive time that England has reached the final; they also played in the Euro Cup 2020 final but were defeated by Italy.

England has not won a major trophy since 1966, and they are eager to end this 58-year title drought by winning the final match.

Spain at the UEFA European Championship

 

Spain has won the UEFA European Championship the most times, with three victories.

  • For the first time in 1964 Spain defeated Soviet Union 2-1 in the final.
  • Second time in 2008 defeated Germany 1-0 in the final and
  • Third time in 2012 defeated Italy 4-0 in the final.
