David Warner retires from both Test and ODI Cricket
Australian cricketer David Warner has officially declared his retirement from both Test and ODI cricket. His final Test match will take place against Pakistan in Sydney on January 3, 2024. Cricket Australia has also confirmed Warner’s ODI retirement through its official channels.
In a press conference held on January 1, 2024, in Sydney, Warner announced his decision to step away from ODI cricket, citing a desire to focus on T20 cricket.
Despite his retirement from Test and ODI cricket, David Warner has expressed his intention to remain available for selection in the Champions Trophy in 2025.
Now Warner will focus on T20 Cricket
- Warner intends to actively participate in T20 cricket, potentially joining the Australian team for the T20 World Cup scheduled in West Indies and America in June.
- Following the conclusion of the Test series against Pakistan, Warner is set to play at least four matches for Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash.
- Subsequently, he may join Dubai Capitals in the ILT20 league.
- Warner has already requested a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Cricket Australia to participate in the ILT20 league.
- The inaugural match for the Dubai team is scheduled for January 21, 2024.
