Raghuram Rajan is an esteemed economist and academician, best known for his significant contributions to the field of economics and finance. Born on February 3, 1963, in Bhopal, India, Rajan has had a distinguished career that spans academia, central banking, and public policy.
Raghuram Rajan served as the 23rd Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) from September 2013 to September 2016.
During his tenure, he implemented several reforms and initiatives aimed at stabilizing the Indian economy and strengthening the banking sector.
Prior to his role at the RBI, Rajan held the position of Chief Economist and Director of Research at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) from 2003 to 2006. He gained international recognition for his early warning of the global financial crisis in 2005.
