Bengaluru Roads Mysteriously Covered in White Foam After Rains

After enduring weeks of intense heat, Bengaluru residents finally experienced relief as heavy rains and thunderstorms swept across the city on Saturday. The downpour, accompanied by strong winds, significantly cooled the atmosphere. However, along with the refreshing rain, an unusual phenomenon left citizens puzzled—mysterious white foam blanketed parts of the city’s roads.

Viral Video Captures Unusual Foam-Covered Streets

A video showcasing this peculiar sight has taken social media by storm. Shared by an Instagram user named Milan, the clip depicts thick white foam spread across a street, leaving many intrigued. The video’s text overlay reads, “Mysterious white foam covers Bengaluru roads after unexpected rainfall. What’s happening?”

Milan captioned the post, “Does anyone know what’s happening? Bengaluru’s streets turned into a foam party after an unexpected summer rain!” Responding to the curiosity of viewers, Milan later clarified the location in the comments: “If you’re wondering which area—this is at NIMHANS Dairy Circle.”

Social Media Reacts with Theories and Humor

With over 4.5 million views, the video has sparked widespread discussion online. Some users offered scientific explanations, while others responded with humor.

One user explained, “It’s due to the soapnut tree.

  • When the first rains hit, the flowers mix with water and create a foam-like substance. This can be risky for two-wheelers as it makes the roads slippery.”

Adding a humorous twist, another user quipped, “Someone must have dropped a packet of Surf Excel on their way home.”

A concerned commenter warned, “Oh, if this is soapnut foam, it must be slippery! Everyone, be careful!”

Reaffirming the tree-related explanation, another user added, “It’s caused by flowers from trees that react with rainwater to produce foam. These trees are common along Bengaluru’s roads.”

Providing further insight, a user detailed, “This happens due to soapnuts (Shikakai) falling from trees. When rainwater interacts with them and vehicles pass over, foam-like formations appear. This is not an uncommon sight.”

Summing up the bizarre yet amusing scene, a user jokingly remarked, “Bengaluru is just giving us a snowfall experience in summer!”

Nature’s Own Phenomenon or Something Else?

While many agree that the foam is likely a natural reaction caused by soapnut trees, the incident has left people fascinated. Whether it’s nature’s way of surprising Bengaluru’s residents or something else, one thing is certain—the city’s unpredictable charm never fails to amaze!
