Bangladesh lift U-19 Asia Cup Trophy 2023

The Bangladesh cricket team lifted their maiden Under 19 Asia Cup title after defeating United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 195 runs. The final was played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Ashiqur Rahman Shibli, a wicketkeeper and batter, showcased an impressive performance by scoring 129 runs in just 149 balls. His contribution played a crucial role in helping Bangladesh reach a total of 282/8 runs in 50 overs.

In response, UAE struggled to accumulate runs, managing only 87 in 24.5 overs. This was largely attributed to the excellent bowling performances of Maruf Mridha, Rohanat Doullah Borson, and Sheikh Paevez Jibon.

For his outstanding performance, Ashiqur Rahman Shibli was named the Player of the Match and Series.

For the first time Bangladesh won the U-19 Asia Cup title.

Bangladesh had made it to the final with a four-wicket win over India one of the top contenders of the tournament. In the other semi-final, UAE beat Pakistan by 11 runs to qualify for the final.

India has won the U19 World Cup the most number of times (5).
