1. India hosts side event on Digital Health at the 77th World Health Assembly at Geneva
- During the ongoing 77th World Health Assembly, India hosted a side event on Digital Health.
- The event saw participation by the Quad countries (Australia, Japan, and the United States of America).
- The purpose of this event was to emphasize the transformative potential of Digital Public Infrastructure in addressing social determinants of health.
- The side event underscored the pivotal role of digital health, particularly the digital public infrastructure approach in shaping the future of global healthcare and India emerging as a Pioneer in citizen-centric Digital Health ecosystem.
2. Shri Sanjay Kumar inaugurated Summer Fiesta 2024
- Shri Sanjay Kumar, Secretary of the Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education, inaugurated the “Summer Fiesta 2024” at the National Bal Bhavan on 29 May 2024.
- This month-long camp, running from May 29 to June 28, 2024, offers over 30 diverse activities for children aged 5 to 16.
- The event aims to nurture young minds through interactive and innovative programs.
- The Summer Fiesta includes engaging workshops in Creative and Performing Arts, Science, and more.
3. MEA, MeitY and CSC e-Governance Services India Ltd sign MoU to provide eMigrate services through Common Services Centres
- The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and CSC e-Governance Services India Limited, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance eMigrate services through Common Services Centres (CSCs).
- The eMigrate project aims to assist blue-collar workers heading to Emigration Check Required (ECR) countries.
- It streamlines the emigration process, promotes safe and legal migration, and facilitates foreign employers, registered recruitment agents, and insurance companies on a common platform.
- Under this MoU, the eMigrate Portal of MEA will be integrated with CSC’s portal.
4. DRDO successfully flight-tested RudraM-II Air-To-Surface Missile from Su-30 MK-I Platform of IAF
- Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully flight-tested the RudraM-II air-to-surface missile from Su-30 MK-I platform of the Indian Air Force in Odisha on 29 May 2024.
- RudraM-II is an indigenously-developed solid-propelled air-launched missile system.
- A number of state-of-the-art indigenous technologies developed by various DRDO laboratories have been incorporated in the missile system.
5. Praggnanandhaa topples world no. 1 Magnus Carlsen for first time
- Indian Grandmaster R. Praggnanandhaa achieved a remarkable milestone by defeating world number one Magnus Carlsen in a classical game during the Norway Chess tournament.
- This victory marks Praggnanandhaa’s maiden classical win against Carlsen, who is renowned for his chess prowess.
- In this format, players have a significant amount of time to make their moves, allowing for deeper strategic thinking.
- Praggnanandhaa’s win came while playing with the white pieces, pushing the home favorite Carlsen down to the fifth spot in the points table.
- The 18-year-old Indian now leads the tournament with 5.5 points after three rounds.
6. Legendary Disney Songwriter Richard M. Sherman passed away at 95
- Renowned Disney songwriter Richard M. Sherman, famed for creating iconic songs that have enchanted generations, passed away at the age of 95.
- Richard M. Sherman, along with his late brother Robert, formed a prolific songwriting duo responsible for some of Disney’s most beloved tunes.
- Their collaboration spanned decades and left an indelible mark on the world of entertainment.
7. International Everest Day 2024
- International Everest Day is observed on 29 May each year in Nepal and New Zealand.
- This significant day commemorates the historic achievement of two remarkable climbers: Sir Edmund Hillary from New Zealand and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa from Nepal.
- On 29 May 1953, they successfully conquered the world’s highest mountain peak, Mount Everest.

- Poonawalla Fincorp Limited, in partnership with IndusInd Bank, has introduced the co-branded “IndusInd Bank Poonawalla Fincorp eLITE RuPay Platinum Credit Card”.
- This card offers a seamless banking experience with features such as NIL joining and annual fees, rewards on transactions, UPI benefits, and a fuel surcharge waiver.
- Additionally, customers can enjoy Buy One Get One movie tickets through BookMyShow and receive additional rewards upon milestone achievements.

9. ICC Players of the Month for April 2024 announced
- Women’s Player of the Month: Matthews played a pivotal role in the West Indies’ success during both the ODI and T20I series in Pakistan. Her all-round contributions with the bat and ball were instrumental in the team’s achievements.
- Men’s Player of the Month: Muhammad Waseem, the UAE captain and opener, made history by becoming the first-ever player from the UAE to win this award.
