1. Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences to launched PRAGATI-2024
- “Pharma Research in AyurGyan And Techno Innovation (PRAGATI-2024)” is being held by the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) on 28 May 2024, at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi.
- The purpose of this interactive seminar is to explore research potential and promote cooperation between the Ayurvedic medication sector and CCRAS.
- The meeting’s objective is to link researchers and industry partners engaged in producing Ayurvedic formulations and technical advancements in order to optimize the potential of Ayurvedic stakeholders in medicine and device development.
- The ultimate gainers from this endeavor will be Ayurvedic physicians and patients as networking and institutional ties are strengthened.
Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS)
The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) is an autonomous body under India’s Ministry of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy).
It was established to promote research in Ayurveda and Homoeopathy.
CCRAS aims to develop research on scientific lines in Ayurvedic Sciences.
2. First Hydrogen Bus handed over to Indian Army under “Olive Green – Going Green”
- Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) and the Indian Army have partnered to conduct hydrogen fuel cell bus demonstration experiments.
- In the presence of Mr. Shrikant Madhav Vaidya, Chairman of Indian Oil, and General Manoj Pande, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), the Indian Army and the IOCL signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
- By using an electrochemical technique to turn hydrogen gas into power, hydrogen fuel cell technology provides a healthy and effective substitute.
- There are 37 seats available on the Hydrogen Fuel Cell Bus. It boasts an amazing range of 250–300 km with a full 30-kilogram hydrogen fuel tank on board.
3. SAMEER exchanged MoU on MRI and technology transfer of Linear Accelerator with industry
- The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has played a pivotal role in advancing critical healthcare technologies through collaboration with the Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering & Research (SAMEER), Mumbai, and other partner institutions.
- To ensure accessibility and affordability, SAMEER has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) for MRI and Transfer of Technology (ToT) for LINAC with several industries.
- These collaborations bridge research and practical applications, benefiting the public and promoting indigenous health technologies.
4. PESB recommended Shri Ajay Kumar Sharma as Director (Personnel) of SJVN
- The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended Shri Ajay Kumar Sharma for the post of Director (Personnel) of SJVN, a leading Public Sector Undertaking under Ministry of Power.
- He was selected following a rigorous interview process held on May 24, 2024, where he emerged as the top candidate among eleven contenders.
- Shri Sharma is currently serving as General Manager in Corporate Human Resources department, SJVN.
- Shri Ajay Kumar Sharma joined SJVN in October 2009 and has since been serving in the HR department at Corporate Headquarters in Shimla.
5. Ministry of Ayush in collaboration with AIIA hosts Sensitization Program
- On 27 May 2024, the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) campus in New Delhi conducted a sensitization workshop organized by the Ministry of Ayush.
- CEOs and CMDs of general insurance companies as well as the owners of Ayush hospitals were present at the event, which sought to facilitate information sharing between the insurance industry and Ayush healthcare providers.
- It promoted partnerships that advance holistic health and wellbeing across the nation and improve the public’s access to and cost of Ayush services.
All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA)
The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) is located in New Delhi.
AIIA is a prestigious public institution dedicated to Ayurvedic medicine and research.
AIIA aims to synergize traditional Ayurvedic wisdom with modern tools and technology.
It offers education, clinical services, and research in Ayurveda.

6. VP Jagdeep Dhankhar inaugurated Centre for Carbon Fiber and Prepregs
- Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar inaugurated the Centre for Carbon Fiber and Prepregs during his visit to National Aerospace Laboratories in Bengaluru on 27 May 2024.
- He witnessed the innovations in aviation technology promoted by NAL. He saw the flying display of the Hansa NG, the indigenous flying trainer and SARAS multipurpose aircraft designed and developed by NAL.
- He spoke about the strides taken by India in the field of disruptive technologies, Quantum Computing, AI and machine learning.
7. Dipa Karmakar clinched India’s first-ever gold medal in Women’s Vault at Asian Championships
- Making history, Dipa Karmakar won the first-ever gold medal for India in the Asian Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The 30-year-old Olympian finished the women’s Vault final with an average score of 13.566.
- This is the first time an Indian gymnast has taken home a gold medal in the Asian Championships in any kind of competition.
- She is the first female gymnast from India to compete in the Olympics. She placed fourth in the women’s vault at Rio 2016, putting on the finest performance of any gymnast competing in the Summer Games.
- When she won the gold medal in the women’s vault at the 2018 FIG World Cup in Mersin, Turkey, she also made history as the first Indian to ever win a gold medal at an international gymnastics competition.
8. Spain to give Ukraine 1 Billion Euros worth of Military Aid
- In a deal made in Madrid on 27 May 2024, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy committed Spain to giving one billion euros in military assistance to Ukraine this year.
- The agreement demands the provision of cutting-edge military hardware for land, aviation, naval, and other applications.
9. WHO launched new ‘Investment Round’ aiming to raise USD 7 Bn
- The World Health Organization (WHO) has started a new “Investment Round” with the goal of raising $7 billion to help nations address issues like poverty, inequality, displacement, and climate change.
- The Investment Round seeks to raise $7 billion over the course of four years to assist nations in addressing these issues.
- The WHO Working Group on Sustainable Financing made suggestions that led to the approval of the Investment Round during the 154th Meeting of the WHO Executive Board in January 2024.
10. Leaders of China, Japan, & South Korea to meet for 9th trilateral summit in Seoul
- Leaders of China, Japan, and South Korea will meet for their ninth trilateral summit in Seoul on 27 May 2024.
- This is the first summit being held in four years between the Nations.
- Meanwhile, Japan said North Korea has given notice that it plans to launch a rocket to deploy a satellite.
- The last trilateral leaders meeting was held in December 2019. Since then, it was put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other factors.
11. Jyoti Ratre becomes India’s oldest woman to Conquer Mount Everest
- Jyoti Ratre, a remarkable mountaineer, has etched her name in history as India’s oldest woman to conquer Mount Everest.

12. Google invested $350 Million in Walmart-Owned Flipkart
- Google has contributed around $350 million to Flipkart, the Indian e-commerce startup that is owned by Walmart.
- With this calculated investment, Google becomes the most well-known company to support Flipkart, the leader in the Indian e-commerce sector.
- As part of the agreement, Google will also give Flipkart access to cloud services.
- Walmart is the primary investor in the $600 million capital round that Flipkart started in 2023, and this investment is a part of it.
- At this point, Flipkart is valued at about $36 billion. The company serves millions of customers in smaller cities and villages and holds roughly 48% of the Indian e-commerce market.
