Electoral bonds data made public by Election Commission. Check details

The State Bank of India has shared electoral bonds data, which has now been uploaded onto the official website of the Election Commission. This data, which includes purchases ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 1 crore, was made available a day earlier than the deadline set by the Supreme Court.

Leading the list is Future Gaming and Hotel Services Pvt Ltd, a notable lottery company led by Santiago Martin, contributing a significant sum of Rs 1,368 crore.

Following closely is Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Ltd (MEIL), a Hyderabad-based infrastructure powerhouse renowned for its participation in major projects like the Zojila tunnel. Under the stewardship of Krishna Reddy, MEIL has generously donated Rs 966 crore.

Securing the third position is Qwik Supply Chain Pvt Ltd, a logistics company based in Mumbai, which has made a substantial contribution of Rs 410 crore through electoral bonds.

Additionally, among the top ten donors are mining giant Vedanta Limited and the RP-Sanjeev Goenka Group’s Haldia Energy, contributing Rs 400 crore and Rs 377 crore, respectively.

The Bharti Airtel Group, a prominent conglomerate in India, along with another mining heavyweight, Essel Mining and Industries Ltd, also made noteworthy donations.

On an individual basis, steel magnate Lakshmi Niwas Mittal contributed Rs 35 crore through electoral bonds.

The data released by the Election Commission provided insights into the purchase of electoral bonds, ranging from denominations of Rs 1,000 to Rs 1 crore, since April 12, 2019.

According to the data, the political parties that redeemed electoral bonds include the BJP, Congress, AIADMK, BRS, Shiv Sena, TDP, YSR Congress, DMK, JDS, NCP, Trinamool Congress, JDU, RJD, AAP, and the Samajwadi Party.

Significantly, SBI has issued electoral bonds worth Rs 16,518 crore across 30 tranches since the initiation of the scheme in 2018.
